The Northern Education Initiative Plus (NEI+) is a USAID funded project carried out in Nigeria. The project was designed to strengthen the ability of Bauchi and Sokoto states to provide increased access to basic education and to significantly improve reading outcomes for more than one million school-aged children and youths.
For this project I designed and developed a series of interactive storybooks and videos addressing challenges children face when learning from home (brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic). I helped create the concept of the storybooks as well as the characters and their universe. The result was a series of storybooks where Hassan and Amina, two siblings in Northern Nigeria, find unique ways to learn at home and cope with their emotions.
